GIS-based information is collected through mobile devices, sensors and open or closed data sources.

    • There are three types of data that Obshare gathers: observations, measurements and other integrated data. Observations are photos or videos submitted by employees or citizens on the field. Measurements refer to sensor data, which is read automatically or manually. Integrated data examples include Open Data sources and infrastructure information systems. There are various possibilities in Open Data integration: situational awareness can be increased with for example weather, road, statistical ‘hot zones’, water supply and alert information.

Information is sent to the service, which transforms the data into clear situational pictures.

    • The service transforms GIS-based information into clear situational pictures. Observations, measurements and integrated data are visualized on map, gallery and info feed. The views are formed in real-time, straight after data submission. Besides the default map, other map layers can be integrated into the service. In case of a special event, you can organize observations, measurements and other data into a situation. The handy filters limit the view according to your wishes.

*South-Savo Regional Fire & Rescue Department is one of the 22 regional departments in Finland. It is responsible of providing fire and rescue services for 14 municipalities consisting of 20 000 km2 (8 000 square miles) of area and 150 000 inhabitants. The department manages a total of 34 fire stations of which 3 fire stations are on 24/7 alert.
